What you can expect

  • Join John, your new history teacher, on a journey through the first capital of the samurai! On this tour, he'll weave a story for you that will bring you right back into those ancient times. Valiant samurai, vicious betrayals, and zen stoicism are abound on this tour! **Plus, on the private tour, you'll get high-quality photos taken of you and your family! I use the Nikon Z50II and 18-140mm for photos on this tour.

    Here's what's on the menu:

    Engaku-ji Temple: Dive into the history of Zen Buddhism and its impact on Japanese politics and art.

    Shojin-Ryori Lunch: Enjoy a traditional Buddhist monk's meal (Standard for 8-hour, by request for 4-hour).

    Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine: Explore the epicenter of Kamakura-period samurai politics and religious practice.

    The Great Buddha (Daibutsu): Stand before one of Japan's most beautiful and massive bronze statues.

    Enoshima Island (full-day tour only): End the day at this holy island turned beloved seaside retreat.
