What you can expect

  • Begin your experience with a convenient pickup from your hotel in Johannesburg. Travel in comfort to Nelson Mandela’s former Houghton residence, now Sanctuary Mandela.

Upon arrival, embark on a guided heritage tour of the residence. Explore the site where Mandela lived between 1992 and 1998, and learn about the significant events that took place during his time there, including the multi-party talks that led to South Africa’s democratic rebirth and the famous 1995 Rugby World Cup win.

After the tour, sit down to a delicious 3-course meal inspired by Mandela’s favorite dishes, as prepared by his long-time personal chef, Xoliswa Ndoyiya. Enjoy one soft drink or juice of your choice and bottled water with your meal.

As you dine, enjoy a live jazz performance, adding to the ambiance of the afternoon. Toast to the experience with a glass of bubbly on arrival. After your meal, relax on the journey back to your hotel in Johannesburg.
