This beautiful hike takes us to the southwest of the island of Ischia. Starting in the “Cuotto” district of Forio, we first cross the large “Campotese” volcanic crater. Inside, we pass wine terraces that have been laid out on the fertile volcanic soil. Along the way, we will explain how wine was cultivated in the past and how it is cultivated today, and what the requirements are for winegrowing. Once in the center of Panza, we follow a fissure in the earth towards the sea. It shows us the way to Monte di Panza. There we will enjoy the view of the south coast with its sea bays. Afterwards, we will reach the Bay of Sorgeto. The tour ends with a wine tasting (not included in the price) in an ancient Greek wine cellar, the “Antica Fattoria Greca”.

INSIDER TIP: The wine cellar is located directly on Sorgeto Bay, where thermal water rises to the surface and heats the seawater all year round. If you like, you can swim there after the hike.

GEOLOGIST'S TIP: The thermal water is almost 90°C (194°F) at the spring. You can use it to prepare your own small lunch snack. Bring potatoes, eggs, and a ladle with you. Use the ladle to place the potatoes and eggs in the hot water and let them cook in it. There is already enough salt in the water!
