What you can expect
Embark on a thrilling 4-day tour of the Amazon region in northern Peru, designed to bring you up close to diverse wildlife. Starting from Iquitos, you'll journey to the Pacaya Samiria National Reserve, where you'll explore its waterways and trails to spot pink river dolphins, anacondas, birds, monkeys, caimans, and more during daytime and nighttime excursions. Camping in the jungle brings you even closer to nature, offering an immersive experience.
Day 1:
Depart from Iquitos by private car to Nauta, a 1.5-hour drive. From Nauta, board a motorboat and sail for 3 hours along the Marañón River to Santo Domingo (Yanayacu Pucate). Continue to the community of Buenos Aires and settle into the Explorer Camp for lunch. In the afternoon, sail to Lake Irquez de Huaylla to observe various bird species and river dolphins. Evening activities include a ride to spot tarantula spiders and other nocturnal insects.
Day 2:
After breakfast, sail for 3 hours to Iricahua, where you'll set up camp and explore the jungle on foot. Evening navigation focuses on spotting crocodiles of different sizes. Throughout the day, you'll encounter various animals, including birds, turtles, possible anacondas, monkeys, and rodents.
Day 3:
Hike through the primary rainforest to search for diverse wildlife and learn about medicinal plants and trees. In the afternoon, fish for piranhas and other species, and observe river wolves. Nighttime navigation allows for the observation of nocturnal animals.
Day 4:
After breakfast, prepare for the return journey to Nauta, where you'll have lunch before taking a private car back to Iquitos. The tour concludes with your arrival in Iquitos around 6:00 PM.
