Start your journey with a visit to Bagrati Cathedral, a symbol of Kutaisi and one of the most important examples of medieval Georgian architecture. Admire its hilltop views over the city and learn how it has been restored after centuries of destruction and change.
Continue to the Church of the Annunciation, a unique church blending Catholic and Orthodox traditions. Built in 1823 in the Baroque style on the site of an earlier royal chapel, it served Kutaisi’s Catholic community before returning to the Orthodox Church in 1989. Admire its elegant proportions, and architectural details that reflect the rich artistic heritage of western Georgia.
Continue to Motsameta Monastery, perched above the Tskaltsitela River. Hear the legend of the brothers David and Konstantine, who were martyred for their faith, and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere and panoramic landscapes that surround the monastery.
Throughout the tour, your guide will share stories that bring Georgia’s religious and cultural history to life.
Please note: the Gelati Monastery complex is currently under major reconstruction. Much of the site is covered for restoration both outside and inside, and frescoes are not clearly visible at this time. Visits to Gelati will resume once more of its artwork and architectural details become accessible to visitors.
After tour, you will come back to Kutaisi.
