This is a unique opportunity to visit the home of a local and explore traditional Japanese culture and cuisine. Yoshiko will pick you up in her car from the station and drive you 10-min to her home. Learn to prepare 4-5 Japanese home style dishes from scratch in Yoshiko’s kitchen. Yoshiko will start by showing you how to make dashi stock, the foundation for most Japanese dishes. Learn to use dashi instead of water when cooking to bring out the umami flavor of each dish. You can expect the cooking portion of your experience to last about an hour before you sit down to enjoy the meal you helped prepare. Yoshiko will share printed recipes with you so you can recreate the dishes you learned. Yoshiko picks her guests from Kawanishiikeda station on the JR Takarazuka line. If there are more than 4 people in your group, Yoshiko requests that additional people take a taxi and follow her home. Please note that the experience ends at Yoshiko's home. Yoshiko offers one of 4 choices below (in the sample menu) for your meal. Please let her know your preference at least 3 days in advance so she can shop accordingly. If she doesn't hear from you, she will prepare option 1 (Mother's taste menu).
