What you can expect
Your Panoramic Route tour starts with pickup from your accommodation in Mbombela or Hazyview in a comfortable, air-conditioned vehicle. After introductions and a quick safety briefing, we head toward Mpumalanga’s scenic highlands as the morning light hits the escarpment.
First stop is God’s Window, where you’ll stand on the edge of the Drakensberg escarpment and look out over miles of Lowveld forest, waterfalls, and mountains stretching into Kruger National Park. On clear days the view goes on forever — perfect for photos.
Next, we visit Bourke’s Luck Potholes, a geological wonder where the Blyde and Treur Rivers carved cylindrical rock formations and pools over millions of years. Walk the short trail and bridges to see the swirling water and unique rock patterns up close.
We then head to the Three Rondavels, three massive, round mountain peaks that resemble traditional African huts. From the viewpoint you’ll see them dropping dramatically into the Blyde River Canyon below. Your guide will explain the geology, local history, and stories behind the names.
After a lunch break at a viewpoint or local café, we stop at Lisbon Falls and Berlin Falls, two of the highest waterfalls in Mpumalanga. Feel the mist and hear the roar of the water as it cascades over the cliffs.
Throughout the day I’ll share insights on the plants, birdlife, and cultural history of the area. The tour ends mid-afternoon with drop-off back at your accommodation, leaving you with incredible views, photos, and a deeper connection to Mpumalanga’s landscape.
