Enjoy a guided tour of the Little White House, the impeccably preserved vacation home of former President Harry S. Truman. While here, learn of the many other notable guests of the home, including Thomas Edison, John F. Kennedy, and Bill Clinton.
Your visit to the Little White House offers a glimpse into Truman family life, the politics of the Cold War, and the naval history of Key West. Originally serving as a naval station during the Spanish-American War, World War I, and World War II, The Little White House continued to leave its mark on history, when in 1946 it became the winter White House for President Harry S. Truman.
Truman made 11 trips to the Little White House and spent 175 days of his presidency here. Many of his personal items still remain in the house, including the infamous “The Buck Stops Here” sign on his desk, the reverse of which says, “I'm From Missouri.”
Your visit includes a guided tour of the home's interior as well as the garden, nearly an acre of tropical trees juxtaposed by the original 1890 wrought-iron fence. Meander at your own pace through the botanical garden, restored to its 1949 condition, before or after your house tour.
