Depart at 8:00 a.m. Your guide and driver will pick you up from your hotel in downtown Hangzhou. Wear a comfortable pair of shoes – there’s not much walking, and it’ll be a relaxed day.

First stop: Jingci Temple. It’s not crowded, not noisy. You’ll hear the famous “Nanping Evening Bell” – a deep, slow sound that has been ringing for over a thousand years. You’ll also see an ancient well called “The Well That Transported Logs” and hear a funny story about Monk Jigong. Standing on the steps in front of the Buddhist hall, you can catch the morning light falling on Leifeng Pagoda – a perfect photo spot.

Then head up Leifeng Pagoda. No need to climb stairs – there’s an elevator straight to the top. From up there, you’ll see the entire West Lake, the surrounding hills, the island in the middle, and Su Causeway – all spread out before you. It’s one of the best viewpoints in Hangzhou. And you’ll learn: this is the very pagoda from the Legend of the White Snake.

Lunch. Right next to the pagoda and the temple, there are small, family-run restaurants where locals love to eat. We’ll take you to one of these hidden gems. After lunch, we’ll visit an ancient pagoda that has stood for over a thousand years. You can climb it, and from the top you’ll see the Qiantang River Bridge and the wide, open river.

Next, we go to one of Hangzhou’s lesser-known treasures: White Pagoda Park. This place combines World Heritage history, ancient architecture, and a touch of vintage romance. At its heart stands the White Pagoda – a beautifully preserved stone pagoda built over a thousand years ago, during the Five Dynasties period. It also marks the southern starting point of the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal – a World Heritage waterway. In the park, there’s a real old-fashioned green steam locomotive. You can climb aboard, and the train will slowly chug through flowers and groves of trees. Take a photo of the old train with the White Pagoda in the background – it feels like traveling back in time.

Finally, the tour ends. Your private vehicle will take you back to your hotel in downtown Hangzhou. On the way back, you can rest a little and reflect on this unique journey filled with pagoda silhouettes and the sound of Zen bells.
