Begin your private Halifax discovery with pickup from your hotel, cruise terminal, railway station, or another agreed city location. Travel with your private driver-guide through Nova Scotia’s capital while learning about its maritime heritage, military history, historic neighborhoods, immigration stories, and continuing relationship with the Atlantic Ocean.
Begin at Halifax Citadel National Historic Site, the star-shaped hilltop fort overlooking downtown and Halifax Harbour. Explore the fortifications, exhibits, Army Museum, and historic interpretation available during your visit. Depending on the time and season, you may see uniformed interpreters, military demonstrations, or hear the traditional Noon Gun.
Continue through the city towards the Halifax Public Gardens (OPTIONAL) and selected historic districts. Enjoy a short walk through the Victorian-style garden when open, then travel past Spring Garden Road and important downtown landmarks. Proceed to the Halifax waterfront for views of the harbor, historic piers, ships, public art, and the waterfront boardwalk.
Depending on your interests, the tour can include time at the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic, where guests may explore Halifax’s maritime history and its connections with the Titanic disaster. Alternatively, enjoy more time along the waterfront, visit a café, or stop for a locally inspired lunch.
