The Route
We will set off from Pisa and ride through breathtaking landscapes, immersing ourselves in local history and traditions. During the tour, you will visit some of the most fascinating and evocative places in the area:
Medici Aqueduct: We begin our journey with a stop at the impressive Medici Aqueduct, an engineering masterpiece created under the direction of the Grand Dukes of Tuscany. We will walk under its arches and enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding hills.
Certosa di Calci: Our tour will then continue to the Certosa di Calci, a captivating monastery nestled in the Pisan mountains, where history and spirituality converge. The quiet charm of this place will envelop you as we discover its roots and traditions. (There will be no tour of the interior of this site.)
Torrette di Caprona: Next, we will admire the Torrette di Caprona, a medieval tower perched on a rocky outcrop that rises above the Tuscan landscape.
Pieve di Santa Giulia in Vicopisano: We will continue on to the Pieve di Santa Giulia, a Romanesque church that tells ancient stories of faith and art. Its tranquility and rural charm will make you feel like you’ve stepped back in time.
Refreshment stop: In the town of Calci, you will have the opportunity to enjoy a refreshment break at the renowned artisanal pastry shop “Andreoni,” where you can sample delicious pastries or panini, or choose something to drink, such as excellent coffee, cappuccino, fruit juices, soft drinks, etc.
