What you can expect
Departing from Deshaies, board Planète Bleue for a day dedicated to exploring the Cousteau Reserve and the Pigeon islets, with sailing, snorkeling and iconic landscapes of Guadeloupe's leeward coast.
Your experience begins at the harbor of Deshaies, where the ANAVA crew welcomes you on board with coffee or tea. After the safety briefing, the mooring lines are cast off for a peaceful sail along the leeward coast of Basse-Terre. Sit back and enjoy the scenery as Planète Bleue sails along this lush coastline between the Caribbean Sea and tropical hills.
First stop: Petite Malendure. With mask, flippers and snorkel in hand – snorkeling equipment is provided free of charge if needed – set off to explore the waters of the bay. This is where the search for sea turtles begins, and you may have the chance to observe them moving freely in their natural environment.
Planète Bleue then sets course for the famous Pigeon islets, in the heart of the Cousteau Reserve. Before continuing your underwater explorations, take some time to soak up the scenery while enjoying a cold buffet served on board, accompanied by water, juices and wine.
Then it's back into the water to explore one of Guadeloupe's most iconic snorkeling sites. Explore the seabed of the Cousteau Reserve, observe tropical fish, corals and marine life, and then search for the famous underwater statue of Commander Jacques-Yves Cousteau.
But the day still has one last underwater adventure in store. Head to the Japanese Garden, another outstanding snorkeling spot in the Cousteau Reserve. A new entry into the water, a new setting and a final opportunity to enjoy the richness of the seabed.
After this third exploration, return to the boat and take the time to savor the final moments of the day. Fresh fruit and our homemade Planter's Punch will be served for a convivial moment facing the sea, giving you time to share your impressions and soak up the atmosphere of the Cousteau Reserve a little longer.
Then, gradually, the time for your drop-off arrives. Settle in comfortably on the Planète Bleue and watch the landscapes of the leeward coast go by as you sail toward Deshaies.
With ANAVA, a day at the Cousteau Reserve is more than just a single swim: from the turtles of Petite Malendure to the Pigeon islets, from the statue of Commander Cousteau to the Japanese Garden, each stop reveals a new side of underwater Guadeloupe.
Three dives, a day at sea, and the joy of discovering Guadeloupe in a different way.
