What you can expect
This course is designed for those who have little or no experience in the ocean or who have received little or no formal training in freediving but wish to acquire the technical and theoretical basics.
This course covers all the topics of a freediving course, such as equipment, equalization, finning, body position, as well as breathing and relaxation techniques, the physiological aspects of freediving, static apnea, safety, and rescue. By the end of the course, you may be able to dive to a depth of 20 meters or hold your breath for more than 2 minutes on a single breath!
This course takes place over a period of three days. Each day will be divided into a theory session and a practical session in the water. During the theory session, we will use different relaxation and breathing techniques to improve your self-confidence and prepare you for the session in the water. Your instructor will accompany you underwater at all times, regardless of the depth, which will boost your confidence and assurance.
This course will allow you to feel safe and comfortable when diving. A 20-meter dive may seem difficult to achieve in just three days, but you will be surprised at what this training can do for you! The advanced breathing techniques, taught beforehand and put into practice in the water, allow you to enjoy a relaxed and conscious freediving experience, the benefits of which continue outside the water.
Our outings end with a debriefing over a cup of tea with honey from grandma's house and Breton cookies.
The SDConservation Apnée freediving school is involved in several environmental projects. A reading of the eco-responsible diver's charter will be offered to the group at the beginning of the outing. This time will be dedicated to a discussion on the importance of preserving our coastal areas. We will discuss SDConservation Apnée's actions, participatory science projects, and the school's initiatives in collaboration with local stakeholders.
