Your walking guided tour begins by meeting at the Tatsumi Daimyojin Shrine, the center of Gion. You’ll explore Gion, which is famous for being the geisha district of Kyoto. During the tour, your guide will show you the history and culture of geisha—from their kimonos and hairstyles to rules and daily rituals.
As you walk down cobbled streets and past a beautiful stream, you’ll hear stories of Kyoto’s ancient past. You’ll see three Geisha areas in total—Gion, Pontocho, and Miyagawacho. If you’re lucky, you may even spot a geisha on the street.
This short trip is a fantastic and great value way of experiencing Kyoto that is off-limits to ordinary tourists after the tour!
