If you want to get a glimpse of the beautiful city of Ghent before anyone else wakes up and slowly see the city come to life, this tour gives you a unique opportunity. Rather than a walking tour, where you only cover the city centre, take a chance to see more and go beyond what's in the tourist books. This 'run' is aimed at anyone and is a leisurely run/jog rather than a competition. Therefore, you don't be a fitness guru. We will adjust the pace to the group and also make regular stops at landmarks to tell you about its history. This is sightseeing tour, and you run to cover more ground :)
This sightseeing and running tour of Ghent starts at the entrance of the Opera House near Kouter (a large square), where your guide will welcome you and do a brief warm-up. After this, you are on your way to discover Ghent. Make a stop and learn more about Kouter and how it relates to the World Expo. Find out about the trade at Korenlei and Graslei during the Middle Ages, learn more about Portus Ganda and its correlation with the birth of Ghent, run through popular Graffiti Street and make a stop for some cool pictures. On this tour, you will also stop at the three famous Ghent towers: St. Bavo Cathedral, the Ghent Belfry and St. Nicholas Church. But you will also learn more about the different quarters of Ghent and the importance of the Opera and Handelsbeurs for example.
At the end of this tour, you will have had some good exercise whilst you learnt about Ghent on the way. We look forward to welcoming you!
