What you can expect

Discover Ganghwa Island's unique architectural landmarks and rich heritage on this full-day tour from Seoul. Journey through lush green landscapes, marvel at over 120 megalithic tombs, enjoy scenic views of Gyeonggi and its surrounding region, and visit the ancient Jeondeungsa temple.

Depart from your hotel in the morning as you travel northwest to beautiful Ganghwa Island, renowned for its architectural and archaeological significance to South Korea's history. Your first stop is the Gangwha Dolmen Site at Bugeun-ri, a UNESCO-listed site that showcases over 120 dolmens, or tombs built from at least 2 upright stone slabs that support a large capstone laid horizontally across.

Next, climb the legendary Chamseongdan Altar, where the founder of Korea—Dangun—is said to have offered sacrifices to the heavens. Strategically situated between Baekdusan and Hallasan mountains, you can take photos here with sweeping 360-degree views of the west islands and gorgeous inland scenery.

Break for a delicious Korean lunch at a local restaurant before heading to the ancient Jeondeungsa temple. Marvel at the intricate carvings and hallowed architecture of this holy place, which dates back to the middle of the Joseon Dynasty, several centuries ago. Other structures of historical significance, such as the Beomjong Bell and the Yangheonsu Victory Monument, are here for you to observe.

After a day full of discovery, your transfer comfortably brings you back to Seoul in the late afternoon.
