Immerse yourself in the historical and natural essence of the southern Soča Valley, a region where Alpine landscapes coexist with some of the most intense episodes of World War I. We will start in Nova Gorica and ascend to the Kolovrat Ridge, a unique open-air museum in Europe. We will walk among restored trenches, tunnels, and defensive positions as we learn about the battles fought on the Isonzo Front, all while enjoying spectacular views of the Julian Alps and the valley.
The route continues to Tolminska Korita, a series of deep gorges and footbridges suspended over the Tolminka River. Here, the turquoise water, the rock walls, and the vegetation create an almost magical landscape. We will follow accessible trails that lead us to iconic sites such as Bear's Head and Devil's Bridge, two natural formations that testify to the power of water and the passage of time.
After the hike, we stop for a traditional lunch in Tolmin, where the local cuisine completes the experience.
In the afternoon, we will descend to Most na Soči, a peaceful village by a turquoise lake that is perfect for relaxing, enjoying a coffee, or simply taking in the scenery.
