Embark on a full day tour to discover the beautiful cities at the foot of the Rif Mountains from Tangier via Tétouan to chefchaouen. Once leaving your hotel you will enjoy the amazing landscape of the Mediterranean coast and Rif’s forest before arriving to the UNESCO-listed old town and Tétouan's bustling modern neighborhoods. The name of the city originated from the Berber language and literally means “the eyes”. It also has a figurative meaning – “the water springs”.Tetouan represents unique mixture of the Andalusian and Arab cultures, which makes this place matchless. There are numerous landmarks and monuments here. No wonder the city attracts so many visitors and travelers from all over the world. We will definitely visit the square named after the famous Hassan II (Boulevard Mohammed V). We will also take a look at the Governor’s palace (The King's Palace), the first North African mosque and the Spanish garden. You fill find there countless white low houses. One of the characteristic features of Tetouan is the great number of street sellers, who offer their goods to travelers. During the tour we will also take a look at the Jewish section, the Berber market, the Andalucian sector and various other interesting places. Leave Tetouan toward our second destination “Chefchaouen”. After 45 minutes of breath taking sceneries and many berber villages, reach Chefchaouen one of the most charming and relaxed places in Morocco. It is famous for its blue-washed medina, with narrow winding streets and artisanal workshops. It was the Jews who first painted the town blue, a colour thought to protect against the evil eye and also mosquitos. Lunch break at Riad Dar Chaouen. It will be served in the idyllic garden area overviewing the valley “Rass Elma” and the medina. After lunch, walk through the medina provides an insight into the historical and cultural background of the city and the Rif region. Stop at “Outat Lahmam” and visit the kasbah, built by The Soultan Moulay Ismail (16th century), which is now practically a ruin and located next to the great mosque.
Although the medina is small, but authentic. We will stroll through its alleys to mingle with the locals and take in the smells of everyday life. Chefchaouen is much more than just a pretty face. The city is full of attractions, thanks to its rich heritage.
