What you can expect

  • Enjoy a Chanko-nabe Lunch, made by our ex-sumo wrestler, first.

Immerse yourself in the world of sumo wrestling with a visit to a Chanko Beya in Fukuoka. Begin with an introduction to Sumo wrestling, learning about key elements like shiko, hip hinge, and preparation routines.

Watch a demonstration of foundational sumo movements, including the stamping ceremony, sliding walk, and split stretch. Enjoy a humorous explanation of the forbidden moves, such as slapping, punching, and kicking.

Observe a brief training session and a genuine match, complete with ceremonial movements. Cheer for the wrestler you think will win.

Then, step into the ring yourself. Put on a sumo costume and wrestle with a sumo stable member. We are accepting applications on a first-come, first-served basis.

Conclude your experience with a commemorative photo with our sumo wrestlers on the ring and a chance to shop for souvenirs.
