Meet your guide and head to Dazaifu by train, just like the locals do. As you travel, learn about the sacred history of Dazaifu. Pass through Dazaifu Omotesando, lined with charming streets and buildings from the Edo and Meiji periods.
Feel the culture of Dazaifu as you approach the shrine’s San-no-Torii gate. Learn the proper way to visit Japan’s shrines, including trying the traditional Chozu (purification) ritual, and explore Dazaifu Tenmangu Shrine. We will try a local sweet called “Umegaemochi” at a recommended cafe here for a short break.
Stop by the power spot Tenkai Inari Shrine, known as “Okunoin,” to look into the deep local culture. Then, hop back on the train and return to the Fukuoka area.
Visit Kushida Shrine, famous for the dynamic Japanese festival culture of Hakata Gion Yamakasa. Take some time at Kawabata Shopping Street to see a traditional shopping area.
Finish at Nakasu Yatai, and taste local yatai food like ramen and yakitori. Enjoy the lively atmosphere, the lined yatai (classic Japanese food stalls), and chat with friendly locals.
