What you can expect

Explore the History and Traditions That Shaped Modern Tokyo.

Step back in time at Fukagawa Edo Museum, where full-scale recreations of Edo-period homes, shops, and alleyways bring ancient Tokyo to life. Walk through the streets of old Tokyo and take in the sights, sounds, and atmosphere of a city from centuries past.

Begin by being dressed in a kimono with hair styling by our staff. We provide traditional props like Japanese umbrellas and drawstring bags.

From there, visit Fukagawa Fudo-do Shrine, a place of living tradition with over 150 years of history. If your visit coincides with one of the shrine's sacred fire ritual ceremonies, you'll witness one of Japan's most powerful and atmospheric spiritual traditions firsthand.
