What you can expect
This tour is is the embodiment of the phrase “it's not just the destination, it's the journey”, because the drive to Skagway is broken up with several stunning stops. As you roll out of Whitehorse we make our first stop at Miles Canyon where you can cross the Yukon River on a suspension bridge over the canyon. From there we make a stop at the glossy green Emerald Lake, and the Carcross Desert (the world’s smallest desert). We also make a quick stop at the small settlement of Carcross, where you'll learn more about First Nations’ history and explore the settlement’s restaurants, cafes and art shops.
After Carcross, the scenery really starts to change as you head into the Southern Lakes Region, the Tormented Valley, and into the White Pass. After a stop at the Alaskan border, at the summit of the White Pass 3,292 feet (1,004 meters), it's all downhill to the Alaskan coast and the town of Skagway!
Skagway, once the point of departure for most gold prospectors during the big Klondike Gold Rush, is now a well preserved relic of days gone by. Discover a colourful and vibrant town where guests from all around the world stroll around its numerous restaurants, souvenir shops, and jewellers. After an orientation drive down Broadway, you will approximately 2 hours of free time to explore and have lunch. After that it's a straight shot back to Whitehorse, with the aim of having you back at your hotel before 6pm.
