We pick you up at your hotel in Shimoda or Kawazu. This private tour of about 8 hours explores the wild coast of south Izu, with sea caves, cliffs and white sand beaches.
Around 09:30 we start in Shimoda town with a short walk on Perry Road, an old lane of stone houses and willow trees by a small canal, near the place where Japan opened to America in 1854.
Around 10:30 we visit Ryugu Cave. A short path leads into a sea cave with a hole in the roof. From the walking trail above, you can look down and see that the hole is shaped like a heart. Allow about 45 minutes.
Around 11:45 we drive to the Tarai Cape area. You walk to the cape for views of the open Pacific and rocky islands. Lunch is in Shimoda. Fresh fish and kinmedai (golden-eye snapper) are famous here; halal food is not guaranteed.
In the afternoon we go to Shirahama Beach, with very white sand and clear blue water. You see Shirahama Shrine, with its red gate on the rocks by the sea, and walk on the beach.
Around 15:30 we stop at a coastal viewpoint like Nesugata-yama area or the Shimoda harbour, then you are back at your hotel at about 16:30.
Your plan is customizable: you can skip Perry Road, swap Tarai Cape for Tatado beach, spend longer on the sand, or add the Ryosen-ji temple area, within the tour time and the south Izu coast.
This is a private tour. Only your group.
If the Ryugu Cave path is closed on your date, your driver-guide takes you to a similar place nearby instead. The tour price does not change. If you prefer, we can instead walk to Irozaki Cape and its lighthouse.
