What you can expect

With Seoraksan's highest point, Daecheongbong Peak, located 1,708 m above ground, Seoraksan Mountain is one of the most beautiful mountains in Korea, boasting a variety of colorful flowers in spring, refreshing clear water streams in summer, vibrant autumn foliages in fall, and a scenic snow-covered landscape in winter. With the mountain changing in color according to each season, a visit to Seoraksan Mountain guarantees a picturesque landscape any time of the year.

As one option, you can visit the magnificent Sinheung temple. Built during Queen Jindeok era, is located in Seoraksan in Sokcho. The most significant landmark of the temple is the huge bronze buddha statue standing over 14 metres tall. This buddha statue, also known as the Great Unification Buddha, symbolizes the desire of Koreans and foreigners alike, who would like to witness the reunification of the country. As you stroll along the temple grounds, breathe in the scent of pine and maple trees that surrounds this temple.

Or as an other route, visit Nami Island, a scenic half-moon-shaped island famous for its beautiful tree-lined roads and peaceful natural landscapes. Surrounded by the Han River, the island offers stunning seasonal scenery throughout the year, from lush greenery in summer to vibrant golden ginkgo trees and fiery maple leaves in autumn. Stroll along picturesque paths, relax by the riverside, and discover why Nami Island has become one of Korea’s most beloved travel destinations and a popular filming location for Korean dramas.
