What you can expect
Departure from Santiago de Compostela towards Lugo, passing through the green, rural landscapes of inland Galicia while our tour guide provides an introduction to the historical and scientific context of the solar eclipse. During the journey, we will also learn about the importance of this land marked by the agricultural, livestock, and gastronomical traditions that define the character of inland Galicia.
Upon our arrival in Lugo, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, we will take a guided visit of its historic center. We will walk along the imposing Roman Wall, unique in the world for being preserved intact around its entire perimeter, stroll through its medieval streets, and discover the Cathedral of Santa María and the Plaza Mayor, understanding how the Roman and medieval heritage has shaped the city's identity.
After the visit, we will dedicate some special time to enjoying the cuisine of Lugo, one of the great treasures of inland Galicia. Lugo is renowned for the exceptional quality of its products: Galician beef, traditional cured meats, DOP cheeses such as San Simón, artisanal bread, and a varied tapas culture. You'll have free time for lunch at one of its traditional restaurants or taverns, where you can sample dishes such as pulpo á feira, lacón con grelos, homemade empanadas, or traditional broths, accompanied by carefully selected Galician wines. This gastronomic break is not just a meal, but an immersion in the local culture and the most authentic essence of inland Galicia.
Afterwards, we'll travel to the city of A Coruña, where the strategic point selected for observing the eclipse is located. From this privileged spot facing the Atlantic Ocean, the phenomenon can be seen projected onto the ocean horizon, creating a spectacular image with the sun descending over the sea. The vastness of the coastal landscape and the westward orientation make this place an exceptional setting to experience one of the most impressive moments of the day.
The sightseeing tour includes approved glasses for solar observation, detailed explanations of the phenomenon by the guide, and enough time to take photos and videos. Throughout the event, you'll have assistance to enjoy this unique astronomical event in complete safety and comfort.
The combination of ancient history, authentic cuisine from inland Galicia, and the power of the ocean in A Coruña makes this day a complete, balanced, and truly unique experience before the organized drop-off to Santiago de Compostela.
