The experience kicks off in Porto, heading towards the Magical Mountains of the Arouca Geopark, a UNESCO-listed territory. Along a Jeep route of at least 65 km, you'll travel along natural trails and landscapes of great geological and environmental value, passing through several internationally recognized geosites. The activity includes a visit to the Regoufe and Rio de Frades Mining Complexes, places of great scientific, cultural, archaeological, and scenic interest. These old tungsten mines played a strategic role during World War II, with Regoufe being exploited by the Allied forces and Rio de Frades by the Germans. For the more adventurous, admission to the mines is included, while the rest can enjoy the natural surroundings and the rural experience that still marks this unique region.
At the end of the activity, before heading back to Porto, you can stop in the beautiful village of Arouca to enjoy the incredible local cuisine at lunch (optional); or simply explore its historic center, marked by ancient sites, with a focus on the Monastery of Arouca and the irresistible conventual sweets.
