Feel like old-time traders arriving in their caravans at the local souk in Rissani, selling and buying all your necessities from fruits, vegetables, spices, herbs, clothing, handicrafts, jewelry, dates, nuts, dried fruits, animals and much more… Feel the vibe , the unique atmosphere that prevails there to this day.
Savor the unique taste of a local delicacy called Berber pizza. it is more of a stuffed flatbread, similar to a calzone or stromboli. The flatbread dough is stuffed with beef or lamb, diced onions and various spices, then baked over a fire until ready.
Discover the ksours (castles) of Rissani up close. These are buildings made of mud and straw from centuries ago. People still live in these buildings, which look like they have been taken straight out of biblical times.
Explore the Moulay Ali Cherif Mausoleum. It is the resting place of the founder of the (current) Moroccan Alawite dynasty and several of his sons. While the elaborate gate and courtyard are open to the public, the mausoleum itself and the adjacent mosque are off limits to non-Muslims. You can look into the mosque through its door.
