What you can expect

  • Experience two of East Java’s most spectacular volcanic destinations on a 2-day adventure to Mount Bromo and Ijen Crater from Malang or Surabaya.

    Begin with an early-morning hotel pickup and travel to the Mount Bromo area near Cemoro Lawang. Transfer to a 4WD Jeep and cross the Sea of Sand to a sunrise viewpoint. Enjoy panoramic views of Mount Bromo, the Tengger Caldera, and the surrounding volcanic landscape.

    After sunrise, continue to Mount Bromo Crater. Walk across the Sea of Sand and climb the stairs to the crater rim for a closer view of the active volcano. After the Bromo visit, enjoy breakfast before continuing by vehicle to Bondowoso. Arrive at your hotel around 2:00–3:00 PM, check in, rest, and prepare for the Ijen trek.

    Around midnight, depart for Paltuding, the starting point of the Ijen trek. Begin hiking at approximately 2:00 AM. If weather, volcanic activity, access, and local regulations permit, you may witness the natural blue flames of Ijen. Continue toward the crater rim to admire the turquoise-colored crater lake and volcanic landscape. Depending on conditions, you may also see traditional sulfur-mining activities.

    After the trek, return to Paltuding and enjoy breakfast before continuing to your selected drop-off destination. (1 hour from Paltuding to Ketapang port)

    DAY 1 – MOUNT BROMO & BONDOWOSO
    • 12:15 AM pickup from your hotel in Malang or Surabaya.
    • Drive to the Bromo area: approximately 2–2.5 hours.
    • 4WD Jeep ride across the Sea of Sand to the sunrise viewpoint.
    • Enjoy the Bromo sunrise and panoramic volcanic scenery.
    • Visit Mount Bromo Crater and climb the stairs to the crater rim.
    • Breakfast, then continue to Bondowoso: approximately 4 hours.
    • Hotel check-in around 2:00–3:00 PM and free time to rest.

    DAY 2 – IJEN CRATER & BLUE FIRE
    • Around 12:05 AM, check out and depart for Paltuding.
    • Drive to Paltuding: approximately 2 hours.
    • Around 2:00 AM, begin the Ijen trek.
    • If conditions permit, witness the natural blue flames.
    • Explore the Ijen crater area and turquoise lake.
    • Depending on conditions, observe traditional sulfur-mining activities.
    • Hike back to Paltuding and enjoy breakfast.
    • Continue to your selected drop-off destination.

    DROP-OFF OPTIONS
    • Ketapang Port: approximately 1 hour from Paltuding.
    • Bali: Cross from Ketapang to Gilimanuk by ferry, then continue by land to your selected destination. Ubud takes approximately 3–4 hours from Gilimanuk.
    • Surabaya: Continue by land from Ketapang, approximately 6 hours.
