What you can expect

  • Begin your adventure with a pickup from your hotel in Launceston. Travel in a comfortable, air-conditioned minibus equipped with seat belts, a PA system for commentary, and tinted windows to reduce glare.

    Arrive at the Low Head Coastal Reserve, home to the largest penguin rookery in Tasmania. Watch as the penguins return from the pristine waters of Bass Strait to nest in their burrows.

    See the smallest and noisiest of the penguin species, known as the Little Penguin, Blue Penguin, or Fairy Penguin. Watch them swim to the surface, stand up, and preen themselves before waddling up the beach.

    Enjoy a fully guided penguin viewing experience that takes approximately 1 hour. After your tour, return to Launceston.
