What you can expect
— Start Your Adventure in Fukuoka –Meet us at 8:00 AM at the Lawson store near Hakata Station’s Chikushi Entrance. Hop on our comfortable coach and settle in for a scenic journey to Miyazaki, where stunning landscapes and cultural treasures await.
— Takachiho Gorge: A Natural Masterpiece –By 11:00 AM, we’ll arrive at Takachiho Gorge, one of Kyushu’s most iconic sights. With its towering basalt cliffs, crystal-clear waters, and the famous Manai Falls, this spot feels like stepping into a postcard. Take a relaxing walk along the trails, breathe in the fresh air, and snap photos that are sure to impress. You’ll have one hour to explore this unforgettable destination.
— Lunch Break: Taste Miyazaki –At 12:00 PM, we’ll stop for a well-deserved lunch break. This is your chance to try Miyazaki Beef, a regional specialty known for its rich flavor and melt-in-your-mouth texture. Prefer something else? No worries—there are plenty of dining options to suit your taste. (Please note lunch isn’t included in the tour price.)
— Takachiho Amaterasu Railway: A Scenic Ride (Optional) –At 1:00 PM, you can choose to take a ride on the Takachiho Amaterasu Railway, a local favorite. This 30-minute journey takes you across Japan’s highest railway bridge, offering spectacular views of the surrounding landscapes. Don’t miss the Neon Tunnel—it’s a magical touch to an already amazing experience. (Train tickets not included, but can be purchased on-site.)
Notice: On the third Thursday of every month, the Takachiho Amaterasu Railway undergoes maintenance. On these dates, the itinerary will be changed to a visit to Takachiho Shrine instead.
— Takachiho Shrine –On days when the train is not running, we'll visit the ancient Takachiho Shrine. Steeped in history and tradition, this shrine is believed to be over 1,900 years old. It's a place of quiet reflection where you can admire the beautiful architecture and lush forest setting. The shrine is particularly famous for its nightly Yokagura dance performances, which depict scenes from Japanese mythology. While our daytime visit won't include the performance, you can still feel the spiritual significance of this revered site and learn about its role in local culture.
— Amano Iwato Cave: Myth and Serenity –At 2:00 PM, we’ll visit Amano Iwato Cave, a site steeped in Japanese mythology. Surrounded by lush greenery and flowing rivers, it’s a peaceful retreat with a spiritual atmosphere. Take a stroll through the forest trails and admire the stone stacks left by visitors as wishes of hope.
*Important: The paths to the cave are natural stone trails that require sturdy, comfortable walking shoes. Please note that this part of the tour is not suitable for wheelchairs or strollers.
— Return to Fukuoka –By 6:30 PM, we’ll arrive back at Hakata Station. Sit back and relax on the ride home, reflecting on a day filled with breathtaking sights and cultural discoveries.
