Imagine a place where the air is so pure that each breath feels like a lung cleanse — where negative oxygen ions reach up to 100,000 per cubic centimeter, earning it the title of a “natural oxygen bar.” Now imagine that place is just a 1.5-hour drive from downtown Guangzhou or Foshan. That place is Nandanshan.
Nandanshan Forest Kingdom is the last remaining expanse of primeval secondary forest in the entire Pearl River Delta. It is a living museum of biodiversity, home to nearly 3,000 plant species, over 200 wild animals, and 60 cascading mountain streams. Here, nature doesn't just surround you — it envelops you. The selenium-rich soil and water that flow through this land have given the surrounding Nanshan Town a legendary reputation as a national “Longevity Town.”
But Nandanshan is more than a forest. It is a cultural cornerstone. For over a thousand years, this mountain has been a sacred meeting point for Buddhism, Taoism, and Confucianism. The Kaiyuan Temple, first built in 725 AD during the Tang Dynasty, is the oldest Buddhist temple in Foshan. And the mountain’s legendary Caishen Temple (Fortune God Temple) draws thousands of worshippers each Lunar New Year, who come to pray for prosperity and good luck in the year ahead.
Today, modern adventure lives in harmony with ancient tranquility. Designed in part by international experts, the park offers three major zones: Forest Crossing (adrenaline-packed aerial challenges), Forest Happy Valley (family-friendly rides), and Forest Farm (agritourism). Whether you want to walk across Guangdong's longest glass bridge (379 meters), fly 600 meters on a jungle zipline, hike through treetops on a canopy walkway, or simply sit by a stream and do nothing — Nandanshan delivers.
Come for the adventure. Stay for the forest. Leave with more than memories — leave with lungs full of oxygen, a heart full of peace, and maybe a little fortune from the gods.
