Embark on a 3-day hiking adventure through the Fimmvörðuháls trail and the Þórsmörk valley, two of Iceland’s most unique and surreal landscapes. Hike between glaciers, walk over fresh lava fields, and pass old eruption sites and countless waterfalls.
On Day 1, tackle the biggest ascent, with about 1,000 meters of elevation gain. Pass moss-covered gorges, endless waterfalls, and wild scenery. Finish the day at a mountain hut with views of two glaciers and, if the weather is clear, even the Atlantic Ocean.
On Day 2, cross a high mountain pass that usually holds snow all year. Descend into Þórsmörk and get your first views of the valley—scenery so colorful and dramatic it almost looks unreal. Once in the valley, cross a river and continue to your hut for a well-earned dinner.
On the last day, start early and take your time exploring the valley in depth. After lunch, catch the adventure bus back to Reykjavík, heading home with tired legs, full hearts, and a lot of stories to tell.
