Depart from Favignana and head to Marettimo, the wildest and most unspoiled island in the Aegadian archipelago. This boat excursion is designed for those who want to go beyond the classic coastal trip and spend a full day immersed in the nature of the open sea, among spectacular caves, cliffs and waters of an almost unreal shade of blue.
After departing from the harbor of Favignana, the boat heads resolutely westward. As you sail, you can watch Favignana recede behind you while the outline of Marettimo becomes increasingly clear: a mountain rising from the sea, with sheer cliffs, green valleys and very few houses visible from the coast. It is the prelude to a completely different landscape, more rugged and wild, away from the most crowded routes.
Once you arrive in Marettimo, your exploration of the island by sea begins. The skipper, who knows every inlet well, will take you along the coast to discover sea caves, natural arches and small hidden coves. Depending on the sea conditions, you can take the boat into some of the caves to see the play of light and turquoise reflections on the water up close. Along the route, there are several stops for swimming and snorkeling: we will provide you with a mask and snorkel, and you can swim among rocky seabeds, Posidonia seagrass and colorful fish within the marine protected area.
In addition to the nature aspect, the excursion also allows you to experience the most authentic side of the island. There will be free time in the small village of Marettimo, a fishing village with whitewashed houses, quiet alleys and bars overlooking the harbor. Here you can stroll around on your own, have a coffee with a sea view, buy some local products, or simply sit and watch the slow pace of life on the island. The stop will last about an hour.
Throughout the day, the skipper will share interesting facts about Marettimo: the ancient fishermen's routes, the history of the reserve, the marine life that inhabits these waters, and the differences between the three main Egadi Islands. Unlike the classic boat ride around Favignana, this excursion has a more “adventurous” feel: you really go out to sea, toward an island that has retained a wild and understated soul.
The return to Favignana takes place in the afternoon. The return journey is the perfect time to relax on deck, soak up the sun and look back on the day: the caves, the crystal-clear water, the silence of the village and the feeling of having explored a corner of the Mediterranean that is still untouched.
The excursion is suitable for couples, families and groups of friends who want a more comprehensive and “exploratory” day on the boat, with a bit more sailing than the classic tour of Favignana. It is recommended that you bring a swimsuit, a towel, sunscreen, a hat and, if you wish, your own snorkeling mask.
