What you can expect

After breakfast the guests will drive by vehicle one and a half hours from Yangon to Hmawbi. On the way, they have the possibility to visit the Kyauk taw Gyi Pagoda in Insein Township with its huge marble sitting Buddha image. It is 11 meters high and weighs over 600 tons. Hmawbi is a typical Myanmar small town and famous for its industrial areas that links it with Yangon. After the arrival, the guests will first visit the local market which still keeps its traditional character with lots of stalls and local goods, snacks, fruits and vegetables. Afterwards, we will proceed to the Aung Zabu Monastery, in Ye Pyar Village, near Hmawbi. This monastery enshrines a total of 301 antique Buddha Statues, which were a private collection from a Japanese gentleman who donated his entire collection to the Aung Zabu's Sayadaw. Please note that shoes and socks need to be taken off for this visit and that you are not allowed to take photos inside of the monastery.
