What you can expect

We will start at the entrance gate, where you will be given a brief historical introduction to the cemetery and its tragic origins.
Next, we will take a tour of the various terraces and courtyards, highlighting the different types of burials and exploring the prominent figures and families who were important to the city.
Who was the first person buried here? Who was William Mark? What are the “memorial benches” and the “red poppy”?
We will, of course, tell the tragic stories of Robert Boyd and the sinking of the frigate Gneisenau.
We will explain the wide variety of funerary symbolism, including the wonderful Anna Angel.
We will end the tour at the entrance to the cemetery, at the Casa del Guarda.
