What you can expect

On this full-day bus excursion, get acquainted with Kyoto's cultural landmarks, Fushimi Inari. During a delicious lunch in the famous Gion district, also get the chance to meet and chat with a genuine geiko or maiko.

Kyoto is filled with ancient historic sites dating back to the 6th century. Your first stop is at the Fushimi Inari Shrine, a Shinto shrine famous for its thousands of vermilion torii gates. Spend time wandering the brilliant paths before heading to your next destination.

Your next stop is in Gion, a district in Kyoto famous for its geiko (the local dialect for geisha) and maiko, or apprentice geiko. You'll have lunch all-you-can-eat chankonabe, a protein-rich hotpot dish commonly eaten by sumo wrestlers.

After lunch, you'll be able to see Maiko performance and witness a Japanese Traditional Tea Ceremony whereas the Maiko will serve you the tea herself! You will also get the opportunity to take a commemorative photo with Maiko or Geiko.

Afterward, you will head toward Arashiyama by Hankyu Train (ticket included). Arashiyama district located in the Western part of Kyoto. This area becomes most attractive around early April and late November when the cherry blossoms bloom and fall color seasons usually peak. During the summer months, traditional cormorant fishing is practiced on the Hozu River for tourists to watch. One highly recommended spot is the Sagano Bamboo Forest. It is a pleasantly cool 100m long walkway that begins from the side of the world heritage Tenryuji Temple.
