The Navigli was Milan's working waterway before it became the city's most energetic neighborhood. The canals were built with Leonardo da Vinci's contribution during his years in Milan. The washerwomen's alley still looks like it did in the 1800s. The courtyard buildings are still standing, many of them now studios and creative spaces.

This tour runs along the canals for three and a half hours, with five food stops and the history woven through the walking. You start at Porta Ticinese, the medieval gate that has marked the entrance to the Navigli for centuries, and move through a canal-side aperitivo, a traditional Milanese housing courtyard, a Ligurian institution that has been bringing farinata and focaccia di Recco to Milan since 1994, a canal-side risotto stop where the saffron risotto alla milanese is taken seriously, and artisan gelato to close.

Morning guests enjoy a Milanese aperitivo with local cured meats and cheese, followed by freshly baked regional pastries. Evening guests kick off with fried pizza paired with a Lombard IPA and a polenta and gorgonzola stop before the canal walk.
