This full-day expedition takes you beyond the city into the dramatic landscapes of East Salalah and transports you back in time to discover ancient Dhofar. This is the only tour in Salalah that offers such a diverse landscape, featuring beaches, mountains, sinkholes, and sand dunes.

Morning: Castles, Heritage & Coastal Cliffs:
Your adventure begins with a pickup from your hotel in Salalah or Hawana Salalah. We head to the coastal town of Taqa, which remains a traditional fishing village. You will see local fishermen at work and spot vibrant birdlife along the shore. The Taqa cliff offers the perfect aerial view of the town and the sea—one of many incredible photo spots on this tour.

Step back into the 19th century at Taqa Castle, explore the Koofan Heritage House for a rare look at a 150-year-old Dhofari home, or visit Burj Al Askar, a cliff-top lookout with panoramic views of the castle and the turquoise coast. Entry to these historic sites is optional, and you may choose the ones you wish to visit. While entrance tickets are not included, you can still enjoy viewing these landmarks from the outside.

Midday: Waterfalls & Boat Rides:
Next, we head to Wadi Darbat, the jewel of Southern Oman. Marvel at the seasonal waterfalls and the lush greenery of the Jabal Al Qara mountains. You can choose to take a relaxing kayak or boat ride (optional) on the canal, where you are often joined by wandering camels cooling off in the water. While the waterfalls and full greenery are seasonal (Khareef), the wadi remains the most-visited spot in Dhofar and a beautiful year-round destination.

Afternoon: The Edge of the World:
After a stop at the “Birds Well”—the massive Tawi Attair Sinkhole—we ascend Jabal Samhan, the highest point in Southern Oman. Standing at 4,000 feet, you will literally stand above the clouds as they roll against the cliff edges. It is rightfully one of the most photographed spots in the Middle East.

Evening: Giants & Gravity:
Discover the ancient Baobab trees of Wadi Hinna. These unique trees are rare in the region, and seeing their immense height and width is truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience. The “wow” moments continue at the famous Anti-Gravity Hill, where you’ll watch in disbelief as your vehicle appears to roll uphill in neutral.

Before returning to the city, we will explore the Ad Damar Dunes in Mirbat, where golden sands meet the mountain backdrop and the coastline. The day concludes with a comfortable drop-off at your hotel.
