How it was back then and what’s happening today
Explore Dortmund’s ‘beery’ soul and enjoy tastings at the same time: On this tour, you’ll follow in the footsteps of the city’s important beer tradition, which is now over 700 years old. From the era of industrialization, through the 1950s and 1960s, when Dortmund became Europe’s beer capital, to the present day, when a great deal is being done to revive Dortmund’s former glory. And you can see for yourself just how good it is on this tour.
Where do we go?
We'll start at the Dortmunder U-Turm, the venue for the Dortmund Beer Festival since 2016. After a brief stop in the foyer of the Unique Hotel, the former headquarters of Brau und Brunnen, we will visit the Hövels Hausbrauerei. Passing the Bierkutscher monument and continuing along Brauhausstraße, we first reach the main building of the Stade Brauerei brewery and then the “Wenkers” cellar at the Alter Markt.
