Discover one of the Dolomites’ most photogenic landscapes on a guided hike to Lake Sorapis, famous for its striking turquoise water framed by dramatic limestone peaks. Starting from Federavecchia, follow mountain paths that weave through forest sections and open viewpoints as the Sorapis massif rises above you.

This circular route covers about 12 km with roughly 700 m of elevation gain. Along the way, enjoy sweeping alpine scenery and learn about the area from your guide while moving at a steady hiking pace suited to mountain trails. As you approach the basin, the terrain opens into a spectacular natural amphitheater, with the lake set beneath towering rock walls. Look out for the iconic “Dito di Dio” peak—one of the most recognizable features of this route.

Reach Rifugio Vandelli overlooking Lake Sorapis and take time to rest, enjoy the views, and capture photos from multiple angles. The return follows the loop trail and includes a few slightly exposed sections. If you experience vertigo or prefer an easier finish, you can return the same way you came.

This hike is ideal for travelers who want an active mountain experience and unforgettable Dolomites scenery in a single half-day outing.
