Yingxian Wooden Pagoda (应县木塔)
The Yingxian Wooden Pagoda, also known as the Fogong Temple Pagoda, is located in Ying County, Datong , Shanxi Province, China. Built in 1056 AD during the Liao Dynasty, it is the oldest and tallest fully wooden pagoda in the world, and a masterpiece of ancient Chinese architecture.
Standing at 67.31 meters high, the pagoda has five visible stories and nine internal levels, all constructed without the use of a single nail. Its sophisticated mortise-and-tenon structure demonstrates the extraordinary craftsmanship and engineering wisdom of ancient China.
