What you can expect
Kakadu National Park is one of Australia's most iconic and awe-inspiring destinations - and seeing it from the air is an experience unlike any other.
Departing Darwin Airport at 9:00am, this 2.5-hour scenic flight takes you deep over the untouched landscapes of Kakadu, the spectacular Mary River and its vast wetland systems, and the upper reaches of the Alligator River. These are landscapes carved over millions of years by the powerful Top End wet season, and largely inaccessible by land.
From above, you will witness sweeping water systems, ancient floodplains, and rugged northern escarpments stretching as far as the eye can see. The experience changes with the seasons – in the wet season, the flight takes you over the magnificent Jim Jim and Twin Falls in their full, thundering glory. In the dry season, the route sweeps over world-renowned Arnhem Land, revealing extraordinary ancient rock formations and remote wilderness that very few people ever get to see.
For those who want to get even closer to the action, there is an optional add-on: the famous Yellow Waters boat cruise, where you can experience Kakadu's incredible wetlands and wildlife up close on a 1.5-hour guided cruise.
Operated by Kookaburra Air, one of Australia's most trusted and experienced air tour operators with over 30 years in the industry, every flight is led by a dedicated team of expert pilots who are passionate about sharing the magic of the Top End.
Departure: 8:45am arrival at Kookaburra Air, Darwin Airport
Duration: Approximately 2.5 hours
Optional add-on: Yellow Waters boat cruise (1.5 hours)
