Start your day with a tour to Noflaye village and discover its various tortoise species. This conservation park is dedicated to protecting the endangered Sulkata, known as the African spurred tortoise, the largest mainland tortoise in the world.
See tortoises of all ages, from tiny hatchlings to 100 kg giants over 70 years old. The park also works on reintroducing these species back into the wild in their natural habitat in the Ferlo region in Central North of Senegal. Enjoy a guided walking tour in the park for around 45 minutes before driving to Lac Rose or Lac Retba.
This pink lake is famous for its high salt content and its unique color. The best time to see this unique color at its most vibrant is during the dry season from October to June. The color is more intense around midday when the sun is directly overhead. This iconic pink hue is caused by the Dunaliella Salina algae, which produces a red pigment to absorb sunlight.
Watch workers harvesting salt from the lake bed and piling it into white mounds on the shore. Have the Dead Sea experience as you float effortlessly when swimming in the lake due to the high salinity. Rinse off immediately after at the freshwater showers provided nearby.
Get on a 4x4 truck for a wonderful driving tour along the sand dunes and the beautiful Atlantic beach, following the last finishing line of the former Rallye Paris-Dakar. Then, break for lunch at one of the local restaurants at Lac Rose village. After lunch, have time to relax or do some shopping at the various handicraft shops on the spot before driving back to your location.
