What you can expect

Day 1 Cusco - Mollepata - Soraypampa

First, we will start with the pick up at the meeting point in Cusco at 5:00 am and we will transfer you by tourist mobility to the town of Mollepata where we will have breakfast and introduce ourselves to our entire team that will accompany us throughout the walk, then we will move to Marqoq'asa where we will start the walk to the viewpoint where we will be able to observe 02 valleys (Mollepata valley, Marqoq'asa) then we will continue the walk to Soraypampa where we will have lunch and then we will ascend for 1 hour and 30 minutes until we reach the Humantay lagoon located at 4220 masl, then we will descend to Soraypampa.

Day 2 Suyroccocha Camp to Challway (Chaullay)

The second day you will have more trails than walks. The views at the top are even more amazing than what we can see. Then it is a straight downhill path with compacted stones, descending to a more accessible area of rainforest at the tip of the Salkantay mountain.

We prepare all our equipment to start this beautiful day of hiking to the Salcantay pass and the experience in the cloud forest and the subtropical jungle day.

Day 3 Challenge to La Playa camp

Today is a green natural trail arriving at La Playa; with some rivers that are tributaries of the main river of the Sacred Valley of the Incas “Urubamba River” and most of the time we will be close to the white river of Salcantay finding in our walk a lot of wild strawberries “on both sides of the trail, of course, if it is the season”. The walk will last approximately 5 hours; the camp is located in the settlement of La Playa.

Day 4 Llactapata Pass - to Aguas Calientes village

We leave La Playa early in the morning to avoid the humid sun, and do some trekking towards the last stage of the whole trip. Today we follow the original Inca trail from Lucmabamba to Llactapata Pass, crossing the Santa Teresa Valley with a greater variety of landscapes. Arriving at the ruins of Patallacta, we have our first glimpse of Machu Picchu and all the Andean mountains in the area, which are incredible sights. We will also explore the Inca site of Llactapata.

We then descend to Hidro (two hours of extreme descent to the river bank). From the Aobamba River, the road to Hidro is an easy walk to the town of Aguas Calientes “the last two and a half hours we follow the train track.”

Day 5 Machu Picchu Citadel

Early breakfast and transfer to go by tourist bus to Machu Picchu, the trip takes about 30 minutes. Upon arrival at Machu Picchu, you will have a guided tour, then at the appropriate time, you will go down to the town of Aguas Calientes to take the train that will take you back to the town of Ollantaytambo and then we will take the transportation to the city of Cusco.
