Depart from Cortona and drive to Val d'Orcia, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, known for its breathtaking views. Arrive at a charming cheese farm and meet your truffle hunter. Learn about truffles, including where they grow, the types available in Tuscany each season, and what to expect during the hunt.
Next, meet the dogs and head into the forest to start the truffle hunt. After about 1.5 hours, return to the farm where a chef will cook a 4-course meal with the truffles you found. Start with a cheese tasting of 5 different cheeses produced by the farm and truffle bruschetta. Then, enjoy tagliatelle (egg pasta) with truffle, a second course with truffles, and dessert. During the meal, enjoy an olive oil and wine tasting from the farm's production.
After lunch, walk around the farm, admire the breathtaking views, and see the animals. Then, drive to Pienza, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, enjoy a stunning view from the town, and taste some gelato.
Next, visit Montepulciano for another wine tasting in town and explore part of the underground city built in the 11th century. Finally, return to Cortona.
