What you can expect

  • Begin your adventure by cycling along the leafy Marina Promenade, where you’ll enjoy tranquil views of the River Lee and spot local rowers gliding across the water. The route joins the Cork Harbour Greenway, a dedicated cycling path lined with native trees, wildflowers, and charming stone bridges, offering a peaceful escape from the city bustle.

Arrive in Passage West and discover its maritime heritage as the birthplace of Ireland’s first steamship. Pause for a coffee at Cú Coffee or explore the Maritime Museum before retracing your route along the Greenway.

On your return, take in the impressive Blackrock Castle, a 16th-century fortress overlooking the water, and pass through Blackrock village, known for its Sunday Market, artisan bakeries, ice cream parlour, and welcoming local pub. The journey continues to Blackrock Pier, a favourite spot for locals, before you cycle back along the riverside to finish at the Marina Market, where you can explore food stalls and local crafts at your leisure.
