What you can expect
We propose a one-day visit to the island that has the highest categories of protection of the territory and the flora and fauna. National Park, the Garajonay and Biosphere Reserve by Unesco. The visits of Christopher Columbus to La Gomera on his voyages to America, the places where he lived and stocked up for his voyages, the reason for his stay on this particular island and of course, the rich biodiversity of the Laurisilva Forest in the center of the island will be the focus of our tour.
We will visit the island's capital, San Sebastián, and the outstanding sites where Columbus lived his love affair with Beatriz de Bobadilla: the Casa de Colón, with a rich exhibition of pre-Columbian sculptures brought from America, El Pozo de la Aguada where the water that baptized the new continent was extracted, the Torre del Conde, the last and best preserved military fortress of the Canary Archipelago. In short, an essential journey through history focused on the role played by this small city in the conquest of the American continent.
In addition, we will walk through the laurel forest, that relic of the Tertiary Era that millennia ago could be found throughout the Mediterranean basin and currently has its best example in the forests of the Gomeran summit. We will walk along the stream of El Cedro from Las Mimbreras to the Ermita de Lourdes where the blue finches will approach us in search of some bread crumbs while the coolness of the forest welcomes us and we listen to the slow cadence of the water flowing down the stream. We will get to know the linden trees, the parrots, the vinatigos, the barbusano or the palo blanco in an essential tour through the Jurassic forest.
