What you can expect
Ohrid is a treasure trove of historical, cultural, and religious heritage, with roots reaching back to antiquity. Renowned for its distinctive architecture and timeless atmosphere, the city attracts an increasing number of visitors each year—yet it still retains a peaceful, authentic charm as an alternative travel destination. Since 1979, both the Old Town of Ohrid and Lake Ohrid have been proudly listed as UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
Your guided walking tour begins in Ohrid’s main square, where you’ll meet your local guide and step into the city’s rich past. Along the way, you’ll discover some of Ohrid’s most iconic landmarks, including the statue of St. Kliment, the lively boulevard, the 13th-century Church of St. Sofia, the ancient amphitheater, and many more hidden gems.
After an optional relaxing coffee break, the tour continues through the enchanting streets of the Old Town, leading you to the world-famous Church of St. John at Kaneo. Perched dramatically on a cliff above the crystal-blue waters of Lake Ohrid, this breathtaking site was famously described by Dutch writer A. den Doolaard as “the place where heaven and earth meet.”
Throughout the tour, your knowledgeable guide will bring Ohrid’s history to life with captivating stories and insights, ensuring a memorable and enriching experience in one of the Balkans’ most beautiful cities.
Optional: at the end you can choose to go back by boat, walk back with the guide or explore the city further on your own.
Interesting fact: Did you know that Ohrid households 365 churches and monasteries dedicated to each day of the year.
