What you can expect

Our adventure begins at the renowned Acropolis of Athens, the iconic symbol of this incredible city.

As you step through the entrance to the Holy Rock, you will be greeted by the grand Propylaea, leading the way to the magnificent temple of Erectheion and its iconic Porch of Maidens.

Join us on a full-day private tour that includes a visit to Mars Hill (Areopagus) (Acts 17:22), where you can walk in the footsteps of Apostle Paul and hear his iconic sermon.

Along the way, we’ll also explore the city of Athens, admiring the harmonious blend of classic and modern architecture at sights such as the Constitution (Syntagma) Square, the famous Panathenaic Stadium, and the grand Temple of Olympian Zeus. Plus, we’ll pass by landmarks like Hadrian’s Arch, the National Academy of Arts, the National University of Athens, and the impressive National Library.

As we make our way towards the monuments of Christian significance, a panoramic drive will allow us to fully appreciate the city’s rich history.

The tour will take you to Monastiraki and Plaka, two picturesque quarters of Athens which are known for their little shops and the flea market. The Ancient Agora located in the heart of Plaka is one of the main meeting places of St Paul as well.

According to the historical facts known to us today, St Paul saw an inscription on the Unknown God, and spoke to the Athenians about this God, preaching about the Christian God and the newly born religion. Some of the most important speeches of St Paul took place here. You’ll have ample opportunity to take a leisurely walk through Plaka and browse its shops, if you so desire. Later, our full-day tour will lead us to Lycabettus, the highest hill in Athens boasting breathtaking views of Piraeus.

Byzantine And Christian Museum
Following our visit to Lycabettus, a delicious traditional Greek lunch awaits before we continue on our journey. Our Athens Christian shore excursion will then take us to the nearby Byzantine museum, located just minutes from the city center.Discover the fascinating shift from ancient to Byzantine society as you explore the renowned Byzantine and Christian Museum of Athens.

Founded in 1914, this national museum is dedicated to the collection, study, preservation, and display of Byzantine and Post-Byzantine culture in Greece. With a vast collection of approximately 30,000 priceless works of art including icons, sculptures, ceramics, ecclesiastical textiles, paintings, jewelry, and architectural elements such as wall paintings and mosaics, a visit to this museum is an absolute must. Prepare to be enthralled by the rich cultural heritage of ancient and Byzantine Greece as you wander through the halls of this esteemed institution.

Your Christian shore excursion will conclude in the afternoon after 8 hours, providing a journey to Piraeus, Greece’s main port and one of the biggest in the entire Mediterranean. It was at this very port where St. Paul stepped ashore during his visit to Athens.
