08:50–09:00 | Hotel pickup
Your guide meets you in the lobby. Day brief, route preview, printed metro map.
09:00–09:30 | Transfer to Liziba (李子坝)
Drive across the Yangtze River while your guide gives a crash course in Chongqing's “mountain city” geography — why elevators count as public transport here, why streets stack on top of each other, and why this place looks like nowhere else in China.
09:30–10:15 | Liziba · Train-Through-the-Building viewpoint
Stand on the official photo platform as Metro Line 2 passes straight through the 6th and 8th floors of a 19-story residential tower — every 2–3 minutes. Your guide explains the engineering story (the building was already there when the line was designed) and the best second a train enters the tunnel for that perfect shot. We capture two or three passes, no rush.
10:15–10:45 | Ride the train through the building
Tap in with a metro card and ride one stop yourself, from inside the tower this time. A 4-minute experience most travelers don't realize is even possible.
10:45–11:15 | Transfer to Eling Park (鹅岭公园)
Short ride up the spine of the peninsula. Your guide outlines the park's history as a 19th-century private garden built by a salt merchant, later a wartime ROC government retreat.
11:15–12:30 | Eling Park · gardens, viewpoint and Kanshenglou Tower
A gentle uphill walk through bamboo, plum trees, and pebble paths. Highlights:
• Kanshenglou (瞰胜楼) — the four-tier riverside tower with the city's most underrated view: Yangtze and Jialing converging far below
• The British and French Consulate ruins
• Quiet gazebos most tour groups skip
Plenty of unstructured time for photos and reflection.
12:30–14:00 | Local noodles lunch · Old Eling neighborhood
Walk to a 30-year-old hole-in-the-wall famous with locals. You order Chongqing xiaomian (小面) — the city's defining street noodle — and try two varieties side by side: classic spicy-numbing, and pea-and-pork-rib (豌杂面). Spice levels calibrated to your tolerance. Mild and vegetarian options arranged in advance.
14:00–15:30 | Noodles food walk
Two more stops, small portions only:
• Beef-tendon noodles at a stall the taxi drivers swear by
• Sour-and-spicy sweet potato noodles (酸辣粉)
• A bowl of cool herbal tea between rounds
Your guide handles ordering and translates each dish.
**15:30–16:30 | Eling cultural lane · craft & teahouse
A short walk to Eling Erchang (鹅岭二厂), a former printing factory turned creative quarter. Independent bookstores, vinyl shops, rooftop terraces. Sit at a teahouse with a covered gaiwan of jasmine or local green tea — the part of the day you don't rush.
**16:30–17:00 | Free time
Last 30 minutes are yours. Browse craft shops, take rooftop photos, or just sit. Your guide stays close but invisible.
**17:00–17:30 | Return transfer
Comfortable ride back to your hotel or any central drop-off. Day-end recap and personalized recommendations for dinner and the rest of your stay.
